Why You and the Bees remove Toxic Relationships

Watching the hives, I noticed this past week some were taking out undeveloped drones that appeared to be mite infested. The skilled bees know that by removing those toxic colleagues their chance of survival is increased.

We know that if you are around toxic people, those that drain you, those that pull you down to their level your productivity is reduced by as much as 30%. Keeping the toxic in your life increases your stress and contributes to your eventual unhappiness. It will also impact you financially. You want to be around people who strive to be their best and do their best. Those that strive for personal and financial success.

So what are you to do?

When Charlie Munger the colleague of Warren Buffet was asked that question he simply said the solution was to immediately get away from them. Don’t be around them and like the bees with the drones, remove them from your life.

Easier said than done.

What do you do if that toxic person is a family member that you see on a regular basis?

When you have to see them for some unavoidable reason, limit your time and eliminate any expectations that you may have that it will be a rewarding exchange. One hour of time, with no expectations, followed by some form of exercise will help.

Just knowing the power of toxic relationships on your life is the start. Like the honeybees though, once you know you will eventually have to act.

Start planning your exit strategy today.
