This One Behavior May Help Your Investment Success
This is my 60th newsletter (or more) using this platform. I’ve also completed just over 200 podcasts on Bee Money Simple. I'm not sure there is much more to say.
What I know is that the most important thing we can do to be successful with our money is to do nothing, wait, and let compounding work for us.
I started to think last week that I could be contributing to the problem.
The problem is the implied urgency of a weekly podcast. It goes against what we know is the number one rule of investing: buy value, wait, wait, and let things compound.
I’m doing less and less as the wait and compounding are changing my behaviour, too.
So, I want to stop doing weekly podcasts.
Instead, they will be created monthly, or when I think there is something that could be helpful to share.
It’s not that important. I’m not very important either.
My investment strategy is straightforward and effective. I have only six different publicly traded stocks in the portfolio, carefully chosen as long-term value holds. On the other hand, Real Estate is a slow and steady game, much like watching paint dry. I've simplified my real estate investments and sold some properties to make my financial life more manageable. Simple. I also buy gold each month.
I want you also to make this financial investing thing very simple.
After choosing great investments that fit your personality, stop tweaking, fixing, or selling them.
Spend more time with your family, go fishing, sit with nature, or watch honeybees.
Currently, these are the public companies we hold:
1. Vital Hub (majority of our holdings)
2. European Residential REIT
3. Slate Office
4. BTB.un
5. Goodfellow
6. Reliq Health Technologies (tiny holding-scary right now)
They may not be for you. Other than Vital Hub, they are very dull and long-term holds. I only read the regular quarterly statements and any news from those companies. I also have a short list of possible purchases if the market crashes. That’s about it.
The newsletter will continue weekly, because they are brief and I think helpful.
The podcast will only be dropped once a month at best. We all need to practice waiting and compounding.
Until then, enjoy the spring and early summer. Plant some trees. Meditate. Read. Watch honeybees and nature. Love your family.
