We are the Problem
America Does Not Need or Want Us
Let’s pretend you woke up today and your life partner said, “I don’t need anything you have or want to have a relationship with you anymore. I will let you be my maid or butler, and if you behave yourself, I’ll let you, let me protect you.” Show of hands, how many of you would jump on board to try to negotiate this deal?
On the one hand, the president states that we Canadians have nothing he needs or wants, but on the other hand, he says we should be the 51st State. He is saying that if we beg and give him everything he wants, he will let us, let him, protect us. We Canadians fell for this simple strategy, which has been discussed often in world history. Canadians voted for an X banker, believing he was the best to negotiate a deal with someone with whom they have no mutual interest.
It was a great diversion to bring out our weaknesses that the US President could exploit.
Our collective Canadian self-esteem is so low that we believe we NEED America. That is our weakness.
The President has revealed that if we look closely at his strengths and weaknesses, the problem is that we Canadians honestly do not believe we can live without America. We ignore the obvious signs and clues of how to win a battle from our much larger neighbour.
Prime Minister Carney needs to cancel his trip tomorrow immediately. Admit the President is right. We have nothing in common. America is the most powerful; its supreme leader does not need us nor want a mutually beneficial relationship. We need to surrender to the facts and move on.
This is a different kind of war. During World War 2, thousands of Canadians died for our freedom. They sacrificed, Canadians sacrificed and joined together with world allies to accomplish the goals set forth.
It’s a different type of war today, but relevant to our history. The missing part may be that, unlike those Canadians who fought in World War 2 and many other battles, we are too weak and soft to take on this current battle.
But we need to look within our country, become strong, and accept the American rejection for our children and grandchildren. We must build a strong Canadian North Military to protect Canadians and our country. We need to truly break down interprovincial barriers, which is struggling to happen. Today, a Doctor in Vancouver can’t see a patient in Ontario or Nova Scotia using their BC licence. You still can’t buy a bottle of BC wine in Ontario stores, and Nova Scotia just initiated a tariff on all other Canadians so they can pay an extra $50,000 when they buy a $500,000 home because they are “foreigners”.
We can't move forward until we admit that we, not the US President or the citizens of America, are the problem.
Rule one in any negotiation is that both parties need a mutual interest. According to America, we have none-time to move on. With investing, I’m starting to nibble at these stocks because of my belief that this is going to be a 4-8 year change in economies. The theme is staying Canadian. I’m slowly picking up Northview Residential Reit, BTB. un, Laurentian Bank and Vital Hub again. I Love Canada.
